Mother shares story of assault, rape of baby by ex-boyfriend

Taren Dzubay has a hard time talking about what happened to her daughter.

Dzubay's ex-boyfriend, Thomas Babler, is accused of raping and assaulting the 14-month-oldgirl while he babysat her earlier this month.

Babler called Dzubay at school that day to say the little girl had fallen and hit her head. When she got home, she knew something was very wrong.

“She kind of threw her head back and then threw it towards me,” said Dzubay. “That’s when I told him something’s not okay.”

Dzubay took the girl to the emergency room.

“I went to take her clothes off and she had bruises all over her. That’s when it all hit really, really hard.”

She became suspicious  and asked doctors to see if there was any evidence the girl had been sexually assaulted.

“And that’s when she checked and there was no doubt,” said Dzubay.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Babler, 26, admitted knocking the little girl off a bed telling investigators she hit her head on a water heater. He denied raping her.

Dzubay said Babler never showed any signs of violence before the incident.

Since then she's learned he was accused of trying to choke a former girlfriend in her sleep.

Dzubay said she wants to see him punished for what he's done to her daughter.

“Part of me wants the worst possible thing in the world to happen to him, but the other part is, that would be too nice for him,” said Dzubay.

Babler pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and child rape. He’s being held in the Pierce CountyJail on $500,000 bail.
